1. EXPLORE IT!
“Love one another”, Jesus spoke these words after He had finished washing the disciples’ feet. First, Jesus made it clear that our loving one another was not a suggestion, but a “new commandment” to men from God. This love we are to have for one another is not an option but a required mark of a Christian.
2. CONNECT IT!
In today’s Gospel, Jesus asks us to love one another as He loves us. Loving as Jesus loves means loving without holding anything back. Jesus loves us so much that He gave His life for us, dying on the cross, rising from the dead and giving us eternal life. Loving others does not mean we are going to have warm, friendly feelings for everyone. Rather, it is about treating others as how we would like to be treated. It means praying for them and asking God to bless them. Jesus calls on us to love all people in this way, even those we dislike and those who dislike us.
3. REMEMBER IT!
“…Love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another.” (John 13:34)
4. PRAY IT!
Dear Jesus, please help me to be a humble and loving disciple. Teach me to follow You with a kind heart, to care for others and to serve with love. Let Your love guide me every day. Amen.
